DUBAI

Time spent: 3 days

discovering dubai

Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates that is not just modern - it is ultra modern. It has all the best restaurants, shopping (they have the second largest shopping mall in the world) and architecture. Visiting Dubai is like stepping into the future. You can also escape the city and take a marvellous trip to the beautiful Dubai desert.

keep in mind

> Dubai doesn't require you to cover your hair, but it is still advisable to wear more traditional clothing.

> Due to the extremely hot weather, try to avoid going during the summer.

> We arranged a tour guide to take us around and it was a good way of seeing the city.

> You don't need many days to have a good overview of the city, we spent three days and 2 nights, and it was enough time to see a lot.

> It is worth taking a day to enjoy the resort you are staying and chill at the pool since they tend to be very nice.

where to stay

chic, modern beach resort

  • Think marvelous pool, secluded beach and beautiful rooms. Located in the Palm Island of Dubai - named like so because the island has the shape of a palm tree - it allows you to relax as if on a beach vacation while being a short drive from the city.

WHERE TO EAT

  • Hakkasan: the world-famous Cantonese restaurant is a mistake-free choice for a delicious and trendy dinner.

  • 101 Restaurant: Located at the One and Only the Palm hotel, it is a seafood restaurant on a beautiful pier.

note: as we only had three nights in Dubai, we ate one night in Hakkasan, one night in the desert (check this on the things to section) and the last night we ate in the hotel because we were leaving early next morning for another trip. Yet, note that Dubai has many of the world's best restaurants so if you have time definitely check them out.

THINGS TO DO

  • Go on a city tour: visit things as the Dubai Museum, go to take a picture in front of the famous Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, cross the Dubai Creek on a boat and go on gold, spice and textile souks.

  • Tour the Dubai Safari: a breathtaking jeep tour on the dunes of the Dubai desert, with photo opportunities and dinner in the middle of the desert with entertainment.

  • Go to the Dubai Mall: if you love shopping, then this is your paradise. Being the second-largest mall in the world, it has every store and everything you could ask for. The mall is so big that they have an aquarium inside. Outside they have fountains and they do a fountain show.

  • Tour Abu Dhabi: only an hour's drive from Dubai, there is Abu Dhabi. It is definitely worth it including on your trip if you have time since it will take a full day to see things. While there, the number one thing to see is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which is one of the most beautiful places I have been. After that go for a tour around town and visit the Ferrari World (a theme park inside a mall) and/or the Louvre.
