SEDONA

time spent: four days

discovering SEDONA

The desert town of Sedona is located in Arizona and it is known for its marvelous nature. Surrounded by canyons and rocks, it is one of the most breathtaking places I have ever been.

keep in mind

> It's best to rent a car, because you'll need to drive everywhere. We drove from Phoenix.

> Check the weather before going, I went during summer (July) and it was extremely hot. Take plenty of water with you, especially during hikes.

> Take hiking shoes and a lot of sports clothes, as most of time you will be going on trails. Also, there are signages on the trails but not all the way. The gps doesn't work well once you are on the hike so it's better to study the trails before going or getting the help of a guide.

> All the places we went had parking lots, which you could pay on the spot with cash, not card.

where to stay

luxury immersed in nature

  • Think of fresh orange juice delivered every morning to your door. A pool in the middle of the canyons, tennis courts and a marvelous Spa. This 5 star hotel is simply incredible, I couldn't recommend it enough.

WHERE TO EAT

  • Mariposa Latin Grill: South American-inspired cuisine, with panoramic views of Sedona's Canyons. It is good to make a reservation. *this is my main recommendation.

  • Pisa Lisa: From the same owner of Mariposa, it is a casual wood fire pizza restaurant.

  • Picazzos: Casual Italian Pizza and Italian Restaurant.

  • Rene at Tiaquepaque: relaxed continental restaurant at Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village.

  • Che-Ah-Chi: American restaurant at Enchantment Resort, with a beautiful view of the Canyons.

THINGS TO DO

note: this is a nature trip, so most activities involve being outdoors. Since our trip was short, we didn't do all the trails.

  • Go on a trail: Sedona has many famous trails, the two most famous being Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock.

  • Visit Antelope Canyon: One of the most incredible things I've seen. You have to book a tour and drive about 3 hours to get there. When you arrive, they will take you on a Jeep (you can't drive yourself to the Canyon because it is a preservation area) and you will be able to inside. The road there is marvelous.

  • Refresh at Slide Rock State Park: A beautiful and refreshing creek with natural "swimming" pool formations. It is a bit slippery so it is advisable to take waterproof shoes.

  • Tlaquepaque: Arts and Crafts charming Shopping Village. A good break from hiking.
